I offer face-to-face counselling for individual adults, children and young people, and couples in central Portree on a Wednesday (also advertised in The Skye and Lochalsh Echo under Lifepaths Counselling and Personal Development). I offer phone and online counselling which can be arranged at other times.

I am happy to receive enquiries and answer questions if you are wondering whether counselling may be right for you. I offer short and long-term counselling depending on the client’s needs.

I have wide experience of working with issues such as anxiety, depression, low self esteem, work/personal relationships, grief and loss, and domestic and sexual abuse, in a range of settings including: GP practice; Women’s Aid organisations; a Barnardo’s project for children and young people experiencing abuse; a charity working with adults and children with chronic illness and/or disability and their carers; workplace counselling and private practice.

I am registered with Relationship Scotland as a Relationship Counsellor and carry out counselling for Relationship Scotland-Counselling Highland as well as with couples on a private basis. I work within strict ethical guidelines; client confidentiality (with limited exceptions) is fundamental to the process.

About my qualifications

I gained my Diploma in Counselling in June 2008 after two years of part-time study and placements in the North East of England. I gained BACP Accredited status in February 2012. In 2013 I studied to be a Supervisor of counsellors and other health care professionals on an Advanced Professional Training course at University of Strathclyde in Glasgow (see below). In 2017 I trained with Relationship Scotland on the Certificate in Couples Counselling. In 2020 I completed a Certificate in Online and Telephone Counselling in response to the changed circumstances brought about by the coronavirus pandemic.
