Dunia Surajdev Newton-del-Campo

I have been practicing different kinds of Yoga and Meditation since 1998 and have enjoyed them all.  In 2003 I started participating in american indian Dance Ceremonies first as a dancer, then as drummer and organiser.  We sweated our prayers in the Sweat Lodge and then danced in silence for 2 days with no food or water.  I discovered that everything I asked for came to be and it seemed a miracle, I also discovered that different sounds resonate in different parts of the body.  In 2012 I went to my first 10 day Vipassana Meditation retreat and fell in love with silent meditation.  I discovered my mind and my body in a different way.  I learned to feel subtle sensations and to sharpen my mind.  I started to practice Yoga more seriously in 2009 and my practice led me to the deeper study and Teacher Training of Kundalini Yoga.  I began to have a daily morning practice that repeated the same Kriya (set of exercises or asanas for different purposes and benefits) for 40 days at a time.  I discovered the power of discipline and the power of breath.

In 2015 I qualified as a KRI Certified Kundalini Yoga Teacher as taught by Yogi Bhajan.  I trained with Hari Har Ji Kaur at the Sahej Academy and I’m a member of the KYTA (Kundalini Yoga Teachers Association).  I love Kundalini Yoga because it’s a holistic form of yoga that incorporates all aspects of Yoga, not just the physical.  It’s a very powerful type of Yoga that will achieve great results very quickly.  Classes include breath (pranayam), yoga postures (asanas), hand positions (mudras), sound (mantra), deep relaxation and meditation.  I’m interested in Sound Healing and have started bringing my newly acquired Tibetan Singing Bowl and Cymbals to the Yoga classes for the deep relaxation and the students are loving them!

I’m an artist, graduated with BA Fine Arts in 2006 specialising in painting.  I enjoy the outdoors, especially kayaking and climbing, having recently finished a one year Outdoor Adventure Course in Broadford and I’m part of a community group called Skye Circus Skills in which I teach and practice various disciplines like stilts and aerial.

I live with my husband, stepson and cat in our croft in Carr Brae, Dornie.  I enjoy gardening and living an eco friendly life.  My dream is to create a retreat in our croft where I can organise events and bring people together to enjoy and share the amazing teachings available to us now.

I am delighted to be teaching Kundalini Yoga at the Health Oasis.  If you have any questions please phone me on 07743574173.
